Chinese Embassy in Malta and the Local Council of Santa Lucija Hold the Signing Ceremony of the Agreement on Donation of Funds for the Restoration of the Chinese Garden of Serenity

To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malta, the Chinese Embassy in Malta donates 50,000 Euros to the local council of Santa Lucija to support the restoration of the Chinese Garden of Serenity.

On June 15th 2022, the signing ceremony of the donation agreement was held in Chinese Embassy. Mr Peng Yijun, Deputy Chief of Mission, and Ms Charmaine St John, Mayor of Santa Lucija signed the agreement. Vice Mayor Frederick Cutajar and Executive Secretary Fabian Mizzi were also present.

The Chinese Garden of Serenity, assisted by the Chinese government, is a Suzhou-style classical garden in Santa Lucija. The garden was completed in March 1997 with an area of about 8,000 square meters. In 2001, Santa Lucija and Gusu District of Suzhou became sister cities. The Chinese Garden of Serenity enjoys great popularity among locals and has become a symbol of friendship between China and Malta.
