On June 1, Charge d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Malta Mr. Peng Yijun attended the "Chinese Bridge" competition for primary and secondary school students. Dr. Alice Micallef, Assistant Director for Early Years, Languages & Humanities of the Ministry of Education of Malta, Prof. Nie Aixia and Prof. Dennis Mizzi, Directors of the Confucius Institute of the University of Malta attended the event.

Charge d'Affaires Peng remarked that as the friendly relations between China and Malta continue to deepen and cooperation in various fields flourish, the demand for talents proficient in both Chinese and Maltese languages and understand the cultures of both sides is growing. The "Chinese Bridge" competition is not only an opportunity for students to show their talents, but also a platform to enhance mutual understanding and make friends. I wish the students to become the sowers of friendship between China and Malta and envoys of cultural exchanges and mutual learning.

The contestants competed by presenting Chinese speeches and talent shows, sharing their journey of learning Chinese and their understanding of Chinese culture. Some performed dragon and lion dances, some displayed calligraphy and paintings, and some played Chinese music on piano and violin etc.
