On June 14, to celebrate the first International Day for Dialogue Among Civilizations of the United Nations, the Chinese Embassy in Malta and the China Cultural Centre held a concert themed "Music Dialogue, Civilization Mutual Learning" at the Chinese Garden of Serenity in Santa Lucija. Charge d'Affaires Peng Yijun and the Mayor of Santa Lucija, Charmaine St John, were presented and delivered speeches. More than 100 participants, including guests from all walks of life and local residents attended.
Charge d'affaires Peng remarked that the "International Day for Dialogue Among Civilizations" aims to promote exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations and promote peace and harmony. It is a successful practice of the Global Civilization Initiative. China and Malta have a profound history and culture. Both countries cherish peace, friendship and cooperation. The performances by the musicians from the two countries are mutual appreciations between the two civilizations. It is believed that the two sides will deepen their friendship through cultural exchanges.
Mayor Charmaine St John said that the Chinese Garden of Serenity has become an important platform for mutual learning and cooperation between Malta and China. Exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations can bridge differences and make the world better.
