Ambassador Yu Dunhai Meets with Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation

On 14th October 2022, H.E. Ambassador Yu Dunhai met with Mr Matthew Vella, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation of Malta. They exchanged views on deepening educational exchanges and cooperation between China and Malta.

Ambassador Yu said that cooperation on education and youth is an important part of bilateral people-to-people exchanges. Recently I presented President Xi Jinping's reply letter to the China Corner” at St Margaret College Secondary School Verdala and talked with the teacher and students. President Xi Jinping highly values the friendship between China and Malta. In his reply letter, he encouraged more Maltese youth to engage in bilateral cultural exchanges and invited the teacher and students from the "China Corner" to visit China. The teacher and students were strongly encouraged by the letter. The fruitful achievements of China-Malta educational cooperation are inseparable from the long-term and strong support of the Ministry for Education. The Chinese Embassy is ready to take this opportunity to deepen its cooperation with the Ministry for Education, by further promoting cooperation in education, youth, sports and other fields, providing support for Chinese language and culture teaching in Malta, so as to enhance mutual understanding and bilateral friendships.

Mr Vella spoke highly of the achievements of bilateral educational cooperation. He said that Malta attaches great importance to its relations with China. He believes that President Xi Jinping's reply letter is a new starting point for further practical cooperation, dialogue and exchanges in educational field between the two countries, strengthening traditional Malta-China friendship.
