On 30 March 2023, H.E. Ambassador Yu Dunhai met with H.E. Ambassador Vanessa Frazier, Permanent Representative of Malta to the United Nations.
Ambassador Yu congratulated Malta on assuming the non-permanent 2023-2024 seat of the UN Security Council and the Security Council Presidency in this February. He said that China and Malta enjoy long-standing friendship and just celebrated the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations last year. China-Malta relations achieved high-level development with deepening political mutual trust and fruitful cooperation in various fields. China and Malta are partners on the international stage sharing common goals. We support each other on issues concerning our respective core interests and major concerns. China appreciates Malta’s persistence on independence, adherence to principles and commitment to multilateralism, regional stability and world peace. China is ready to support Malta in playing a greater role in international stage and work together with Malta to deal with global challenges.
Ambassador Frazier spoke highly of Malta-China relations and China's contribution to the international affairs. She looks forward to strengthening mutual understanding and enhancing bilateral and multilateral cooperation with China.
