On 5 May 2023, H.E. Ambassador Yu Dunhai met with Dr Alicia Bugeja Said, Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Animal Rights. They exchanged views on China-Malta relations and bilateral cooperation.

Ambassador Yu said that China and Malta enjoy long-term friendship. Last year is the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malta. President Xi Jinping had a warm and friendly phone conversation with President George Vella, charting the course for the future development of bilateral relations. Over the past 50 years, China and Malta have deepened exchanges and cooperation in various fields and achieved fruitful results. China stands ready to expand commercial cooperation with Malta on fisheries, clean energy and so on, providing new impetus to the bilateral relations.

Dr Bugeja Said spoke highly of Malta-China relations and expressed her expectation on future cooperation between Malta and China on fisheries and other industries.
