On 13th June 2023, H.E. Ambassador Yu Dunhai met with Prof. Marvin Formosa, director of the International Institute on Ageing United Nations-Malta. The two sides had in-depth exchanges on population ageing. Ms Rosette Farrugia-Bonello, deputy director of the International Institute on Ageing was present.

Ambassador Yu said that respecting the elderly is a traditional virtue of the Chinese nation. The Chinese government has pursued a proactive national strategy in response to population ageing, promoted elderly care programs and services, and made historic achievements in the development of national undertakings for the aged. The Chinese side stands ready to strengthen communication and exchanges with the International Institute on Ageing and make positive contributions to addressing the challenge of population ageing.

Prof. Formosa said that the International Institute on Ageing has always maintained friendly relations with China and is willing to strengthen  cooperation between the two sides.
