On 23 September 2024, the Chinese Embassy in Malta held a reception to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Chargé d'Affaires Peng Yijun and the President of Malta, H.E. Myriam Spiteri Debono, attended and delivered speeches. More than 450 guests were present, including the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malta, Hon Anġlu Farrugia, Ministers, Parliamentary secretaries, the leader of the Opposition Party, Members of the Parliament, former dignitaries of Malta, diplomatic corps, and friends from all walks of life.

In his speech, Chargé d'Affaires Peng reviewed the great achievements made during the past 75 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China and introduced the essence of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. He highlighted that China's further deepening reform Comprehensively to advance Chinese modernization will create new opportunities for win-win cooperation for the world. China-Malta relations have solid foundations. China stands ready to work with Malta to elevate bilateral ties to a new level.

H.E. President Spiteri Debono spoke highly of China-Malta relations and commended the fruitful results of practical cooperation achievements between China and Malta in various fields such as culture, health, education, energy, agriculture, aquaculture as well as the close cooperation at the multilateral level.
