Charge d'Affaires Peng Yijun Takes an Interview with One TV on China's Visa-free Policy to Ordinary Passport Holders of Malta

On November 23, Mr Peng Yijun, Charge d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Malta, took an interview with One TV on China's visa-free policy for ordinary passport holders of Malta and its further optimization.

Charge d'Affaires Peng emphasized that in order to further facilitate personnel exchanges between China and other countries, China has decided to expand its visa-free arrangement to include more countries. From 30th Nov 2024 to 31st Dec 2025, visa exemption will be applied to ordinary passport holders from nine countries including Malta on a trial basis. In addition, China has decided to further optimize the visa-free policy, including exchanges and visit purposes into the visa-free entry scope, and extend the period of visa-free stays allowed from the current 15 days to 30 days. Starting from 30th Nov 2024, ordinary passport holders from the 38 countries within its visa-free arrangement, including the aforementioned newly added nine countries, can enter China without a need to apply for a visa for the purposes of business, tourism, family visits, exchanges and visits and transit, with stays of no more than 30 days.

Charge d'Affaires Peng said that the most direct benefit of the visa-free policy is the facilitation of personnel exchanges between China and Malta. China sincerely welcomes Maltese tourists to take a spontaneous trip to China to experience its local customs, history and culture. At the same time, this is also a great opportunity to promote Malta, the "Gem" in the Mediterranean, in China.

Charge d'Affaires Peng also mentioned that China is a huge market with 1.4 billion population and over 400 million people middle class. The demand for high-quality commodities and services is increasing. China welcomes Maltese enterprises and institutions to take advantage of the visa-free policy and visit China for more economic and trade cooperation as well as people-to-people exchanges to bring more benefits to our two peoples.
