Wang Yi Has a Phone Call with Indonesian Coordinator for Cooperation with China Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan

On March 14, 2023, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi had a phone call at request with Indonesian Coordinator for Cooperation with China and Coordinating Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

Wang Yi thanked President Joko Widodo for his congratulations on President Xi Jinping’s re-election as President, saying that it demonstrates high-level mutual trust between the two heads of state and high-level China-Indonesia relations. Wang Yi said that the new Chinese government will pursue a people-centered development philosophy, promote high-quality development, advance the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through a Chinese path to modernization, and create new opportunities for the world with China’s own development. In this process, China-Indonesia cooperation will make great contributions.

Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan warmly congratulated on the complete success of China’s two sessions, and said that Indonesia attaches great importance to its relations with China, and stands ready to work with China to promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, advance the building of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway, and strive for more outcomes in cooperation between the two countries in various fields. Indonesia highly appreciates China for successfully advancing the Saudi Arabia-Iran dialogue which has yielded important outcomes, saying that this is an example of resolving conflicts through consultations and realizing peace, and China has played a remarkable role.

Wang Yi briefed on the Saudi Arabia-Iran dialogue, and said that this is a successful practice of implementing the Global Security Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping, a successful example of developing countries solving regional hotspot issues through their own efforts, and also a victory for dialogue and peace. China always advocates a peaceful settlement of disputes through dialogue, hopes for a political settlement of all the hotspot issues in the world through dialogue, and will continue to play a constructive role in this endeavor.

The two sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest and concern.
