On March 11, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Malta Zhang Zuo attended and delivered remarks at the Opening Ceremony of the Chinese Cultural Pavilion at the 2026 Malta Biennale. Over 70 guests and representatives from various sectors were present, including Mario Cutajar, Chairman of Heritage Malta and President of the Biennale.
Ambassador Zhang stated that civilizations, like water, nourish all things silently, and friendship, like a spring, runs deep and long. He expressed the expectation to jointly enhance the dialogue among civilizations through China-Malta artistic exchanges: to perceive a clean and beautiful China through the narrative thread of "water culture"; to perceive a green and innovative China through diverse art forms reflecting the harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature; to perceive the preciousness of peaceful development by deepening understanding in a turbulent world; and to perceive the future of a better world by using water as a mirror to initiate exchanges across mountains and seas.

The guests expressed that the Chinese Cultural Pavilion fully embodies China's broad-mindedness in promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, and showcases the Chinese wisdom leading to "cleanliness, clarity, and simplicity".
