
On February 24, 2026, Ambassador Zhang Zuo met with Joyce Dimech, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Home Affairs, Security and Employment of Malta. The two sides exchanged views on further strengthening China–Malta relations and expanding practical cooperation.
Ambassador Zhang stated that, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, China–Malta relations have continued to deepen and develop. He introduced the guiding principles of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, emphasizing China’s commitment to advancing the modernization of its national security system and capacity and to building a higher level of a safe China. He expressed appreciation to the Maltese side for providing a secure social environment for Chinese citizens and institutions in Malta, and noted that China stands ready to further deepen cooperation with Malta in the fields of public security and law enforcement to create a favorable environment for practical cooperation between the two countries.

Permanent Secretary Dimech said that Malta and China enjoy a profound traditional friendship, and that Malta attaches great importance to developing relations with China. The Ministry for Home Affairs will continue to maintain sound public order and looks forward to strengthening exchanges and cooperation with China to provide solid security guarantees for Chinese citizens and institutions in Malta.
