On 23rd March 2026, Ambassador Zhang Zuo met with Hon. Clifton Grima, Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation of Malta.
Ambassador Zhang noted that China and Malta have maintained strong momentum in cooperation across education, sports, science, and technology, contributing to the continuous deepening of bilateral friendship. In 2022, President Xi Jinping sent a cordial reply letter to the teachers and students of the “Science China Corner” at St. Margaret College Secondary School, providing important guidance for youth exchanges between the two countries.
The recently reviewed and approved “15th Five-Year Plan” outline at China's National People's Congress and Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference emphasizes building a strong nation in education, science and technology, talent, and sports in China's development strategy. It promotes the deep integration of scientific and industrial innovation, creating new opportunities for expanding China-Malta cooperation. It is hoped that both sides will continue to work together to further strengthen the friendship between the two nations.
Hon. Grima recalled attending the ceremony where President Xi's reply letter was presented to the local school and the fruitful results in youth exchanges between the two countries. Malta is ready to further support and promote cooperation between the two nations in education, culture, sports, youth development, and scientific innovation.
