Since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1972, China-Malta relations have enjoyed sound development with deeper political mutual trust and wider people-to-people contact.

In 2018, the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding on Belt and Road cooperation, mapping out a new blueprint for enhancing our cooperation in the new era. Today, China-Malta relationship is standing at a new historical starting point and faced with unprecedented opportunities.
