Procedure of applying for legalization:

1. The document needs to be notarized by a local notary public

2. The document needs to be legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion of Malta

3. Apply for legalization at the Chinese Embassy in Malta

Required documents for apply for legalization:

1. The original and a photocopy of the applicant's passport or other valid ID

2. The original and a photocopy of the entrusted person's valid ID if the applicant entrusts someone else to submit the application on his/her behalf

3. A photocopy of the valid ID of the company's legal representative and the original company document that can prove the person's legal representative status if the applicant is applying on behalf of a company

4. The Application Form

5. The original document to be legalized and a photocopy

6. Other documents required by the consular officer

1. Your document must be authentic, intact and legitimate. The Embassy will not authenticate a document that contains illegal contents under Chinese laws or may cause potential threats to China's national or public interests.

2. A document containing two or more pages must be bound properly and securely, with sealing wax or paging seal/embossed seal to ensure the integrity of the document. The Embassy will not authenticate a document if it is found illegitimate, or in any way forged, counterfeited, fraudulent or altered.

3. Consular officers reserve the right to request additional documents from the applicant.

4. A document that has been authenticated by the Chinese Embassy shall not be willfully bound, unbound or altered. The applicant is solely responsible for all consequences and legal responsibilities arising from his or her unauthorized binding, unbinding or altering of the document.
