Ambassador Yu Dunhai Attends the Launch of the First Malta International Art Biennale

On January 17, H.E. Ambassador Yu Dunhai was invited to attend the launch of the first Malta International Art Biennale. H.E George Vella, President of Malta, Mr. Mario Cutajar, Chairman of Heritage Malta and President of Maltabiennale.art, Mr. Albert Marshall, Executive Chairman of the Malta Arts Council, Ms. Yuan Yuan, Director of the China Cultural Centre in Malta and diplomatic envoys of relevant countries in Malta attended the event.

Ambassador Yu said to the Maltese guests that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malta 52 years ago, people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries have maintained a strong momentum and have become the most dynamic part of bilateral relations. China, invited to the Biennale, will set up an exhibition pavilion in Valletta to showcase its outstanding modern and contemporary arts, with the aim of presenting the Chinese culture to the Maltese and fostering stronger people-to-people connectivity and friendly ties between our countries.

The inaugural International Art Biennale of Malta is scheduled to open from March to May 2024, with exhibition pavilions of 15 countries including China as well as individual exhibitions of 80 artists. The China Pavilion will be co-curated by the China Cultural Centre in Malta and the Shenzhen Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports.
