Ambassador Yu Dunhai Attends Chinese New Year Gala Held by the Confucius Institute of the University of Malta

On February 7, H.E. Ambassador Yu Dunhai was invited to attend the Chinese New Year Gala held by the Confucius Institute of the University of Malta and delivered remarks. Over 50 guests including Professor Alfred Vella, Rector of the University of Malta, Dr. Nie Aixia and Dr. Dennis Mizzi, Directors of the Confucius Institute, teachers and students attended the event.

Ambassador Yu said that since the establishment of China-Malta diplomatic relations, our cultural and people-to-people exchanges have become increasingly close. The Confucius Institute at the University of Malta has played an active role in promoting educational cooperation between the two countries. He encouraged the teachers and students of the Confucius Institute to continue to contribute to the friendship between our two peoples.

Professor Vella said that language is a bridge of culture. Today, more and more Maltese young people are learning Chinese, adding vitality to the people-to-people and cultural exchanges between our countries. The University of Malta appreciates China's support to the Confucius Institute and will continue to create platform for exchanges between the young people.

The remarks are followed with shows including Chinese traditional instruments ensemble, Chinese folk dances, Kungfu performed by Malta Gino Martial Arts School, chorus "Descendants of the Dragon" by Maltese students etc.
