Recently, H.E. Ambassador Yu Dunhai and other diplomats of the Chinese Embassy in Malta met with Maltese cabinet ministers, government officials, former dignitaries, Malta-China Friendship Society, and representatives of the business sector, during which they honored the original aspiration of China-Malta diplomatic relations and agreed to work together for greater progress in China-Malta relations.

Both sides agreed that 52 years ago the former leaders of our countries issued the communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations with great political foresight, which laid a solid foundation and opened a new chapter for bilateral relations. With close high-level exchanges, solid political mutual trust, and fruitful cooperation in various fields highlighted by over 60 agreements signed, China-Malta relations have maintain a strong momentum and brought tangible benefits to the peoples of two countries.

The Maltese side reiterates its respect for UN Resolution 2758 and its commitment to one-China principle, as Taiwan is part of China. Both sides will work together to implement the import consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, adhere to the original aspiration of the establishment of diplomatic relations, continue the traditional friendship, and accelerate practical cooperation and people-to-people exchanges under the "Belt and Road" framework so as to jointly create a bright future for bilateral relations.
