On April 29th, Charge d'Affaires Mr. Peng Yijun attended the "International Chinese Language Day" event and the launch of the "Chinese Reading Corner" of St. Clare's College Pembroke Secondary School and delivered a speech. Mr. Philip Pace, Head of School, teachers and students, as well as Ms. Nie Aixia, Director of the Confucius Institute of the University of Malta, among other, attended the activity.
Charge d'Affaires Mr. Peng Yijun remarked that the Embassy's book donation to the "Chinese Reading Corner" marks not only a celebration for the United Nations International Chinese Language Day, but also a good wish for the cultural exchanges between China and Malta. We hope that these books could contribute to the students’ better understanding on the Chinese culture and the friendship between China and Malta, and empower their future academic pursuits.
Mr. Pace thanked the Embassy for its book donation and said that "China Reading Corner" will not only provide abundant learning materials for students taking the Chinese elective courses, but also help more students gain a deeper understanding of China's language, history and culture. It is expected that the Reading Corner could become a platform for more cultural exchange activities so that the Malta-China friendship can take root in the hearts of the younger generation.
