On May 21, 2026, H.E. Zhang Zuo, Chinese Ambassador to Malta, met with Mr. Keith Checuti, CEO of the Public Broadcasting Services (PBS) of Malta. PBS Chief Operating Officer Mr. Charles Dalli was also present at the meeting.

Ambassador Zhang stated that China and Malta are old and good friends characterized by mutual respect, mutual trust, and win-win cooperation. The bilateral cooperation has yielded fruitful results, and the two peoples have enjoyed growing mutual understanding and affinity. He mentioned that the recent meeting between the Chinese and U.S. Presidents reached an important consensus on building a constructive bilateral relationship of strategic stability, which will create a favorable external environment for the development of China-Malta relations. He expressed his expectation that the media of both countries will strengthen exchanges and interactions, promote mutual learning, and enhance the well-being of the two peoples.

CEO Checuti stated that Malta and China have always maintained mutual understanding and support over the past more than half a century since the establishment of diplomatic relations. He expressed his gladness at the sound momentum of bilateral ties, noting that the Maltese public follows China's development closely.
