On October 16, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Malta H.E. Zhang Zuo attended and delivered remarks at the signing ceremony of an agreement on the establishment of a multisensory room for children with disabilities in the Emergency Department of Mater Dei Hospital. Hon.Dr. Ian Borg, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health of Malta, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Health Dr. Renzo De Gabriele, and Chief Executive Officer of Mater Dei Hospital Ing. Keith Attard, among others, attended the ceremony.

Ambassador Zhang noted that China and Malta have achieved fruitful results in healthcare cooperation over the past 54 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations. He expressed his hope that the two sides would further deepen exchanges in medical education, work together to improve the health and well-being of their peoples, strengthen international public health cooperation, and contribute to building a global community of health for all.
