Li Qiang Meets with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev

On the morning of September 2, 2025, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council met with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who is in China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2025 and events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing.

Li Qiang said that China and Uzbekistan are good friends, good partners, and good brothers. Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, the development of China-Uzbekistan relations has entered a golden period, with cooperation entering the fast lane. This morning, President Xi Jinping held a meeting with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, charting the course and making new plans for further deepening China-Uzbekistan relations. China is ready to make continuous efforts with Uzbekistan to carry forward traditional friendship, consolidate political mutual trust, firmly support each other, expand practical cooperation, further advance the China-Uzbekistan all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership for a new era, and bring more benefits to the people of both countries.

Li Qiang pointed out that China is willing to further strengthen the synergy between the Belt and Road Initiative with the "Uzbekistan-2030" strategy, continue to leverage the role of the China-Uzbekistan intergovernmental cooperation committee mechanism, expand the scale of trade and investment, advance the high-quality construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, and deepen cooperation in connectivity, new energy, digital economy, artificial intelligence, modern agriculture and other fields to inject more impetus into their respective modernization endeavors. China will continue to encourage capable Chinese enterprises to invest in Uzbekistan. Both sides should strengthen exchanges and cooperation in such fields as culture, education, think tanks, and poverty alleviation, efficiently operate the branches of Chinese universities in Uzbekistan, Luban Workshops, and Confucius Institutes, organize the "China Tourism Year", and continuously enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples. China is ready to strengthen multilateral communication and coordination with Uzbekistan, and jointly implement the outcomes of the SCO Tianjin Summit. China also stands ready to work with Uzbekistan and other Central Asian partners to make the China-Central Asia mechanism more fruitful and robust and achieve new progress in building a China-Central Asia community with a shared future.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev extended warm congratulations on the complete success of the SCO Tianjin Summit and expressed Uzbekistan's full support for the Global Governance Initiative put forth by President Xi Jinping. Under the wise leadership of President Xi Jinping, China is steadfastly advancing along the path toward realizing Chinese modernization, achieving remarkable accomplishments in economic and social development. The Uzbekistan-China all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership for a new era is currently at a high level. Uzbekistan appreciates the valuable assistance China has provided for its national development over the years, looks forward to maintaining high-level exchanges with China, deepening cooperation in economy, trade, infrastructure, artificial intelligence, poverty alleviation, culture and other fields, and welcomes more Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan firmly supports the one-China principle, and stands ready to work with China to combat the three forces of terrorism, separatism and extremism. Uzbekistan is also willing to further strengthen communication and coordination with China within frameworks such as the SCO and China-Central Asia mechanism, and jointly defend international fairness and justice.
