On March 16, 2026, Ambassador Zhang Zuo met with Mr. Mangion, Chairman of Malta Tourism Authority, to exchange views on China-Malta relations and tourism cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador Zhang pointed out that the successful convening of China's "Two Sessions" and the approval of the "15th Five-Year Plan" outline, has drawn a blueprint for the country's economic and social development over the next five years and beyond. China's focus on building a culturally strong nation and a tourism powerhouse, and its promotion of deep integration of culture and tourism, provides new opportunities for tourism cooperation and exchanges between China and Malta.

Mr. Mangion stated that China's Five-Year plan, aimed at improving national income and living standards, is highly compatible with Malta's strategic goals of "Vision 2050." The long-standing friendship, mutual respect, and mutual trust between Malta and China have laid a solid foundation for bilateral tourism exchanges and cooperation.
