On June 5, 2026, H.E. Ambassador Zhang Zuo met with Mr. David Mansfield, Director General for Political, External Relations and European Affairs at the Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs of Malta.

H.E. Ambassador Zhang congratulated Malta on its successful general election and the formation of a new government cabinet, and extended congratulations to Hon. Chris Fearne on his appointment as Minister for Foreign and European Affairs. He expressed his hope to continue working closely with the Maltese side for the sound and stable development of China–Malta relations under the strategic guidance of the two countries' leaders.

Mr. Mansfield stated that Malta will continue to firmly adhere to the One China policy and to further strengthen bilateral relations with China, deepen cooperation across various fields, and enhance friendship between the two peoples.
